Fun-A-Day: DataViz (2017)

Inspired by Dear Data, I created a diaristic data visualization for four weeks in January 2017 — charting songs stuck in my head, clothing worn, emails sent for business and pleasure, and common elements in my dreams. I loved the way that recording these elements made them spring to life more for me. The email week spurred me to send some lengthy work emails in a quicker fashion so I could snag them for this trophy rack. And noticing songs in my head made me resent them more as uninvited guests!

Fun-A-Day: "Go Don't Go" Trapeze Diary (2014)

Every day in January 2014, I captured a new dance improvisation on trapeze at the Performance Garage in Philadelphia. The final calendar-inspired layout of film stills was exhibited at Studio 34 in West Philadelphia as part of Artclash's 2014 Fun-A-Day.

"Go Don't Go" was my first completely solo studio practice on trapeze — my ensemble company Tangle had rehearsed there for years, but it was a special chance to occupy a brief pocket of solitude, silence, and process-oriented exertion before heading to my day job. My goal was to ask myself: is there more space in my life for self-directed art projects? Are there pockets of time I'm not using? The answer was both yes and not really... but I really enjoyed learning what the sky above the Schuylkill looked like every day at 6:45.
